Adam Smith

Adam is originally from Sargent, Nebraska and ended up working in radio almost by accident. He landed a cool part-time job at a Lincoln, NE radio station while going to college with intentions of becoming an ag teacher. As they say, the rest is history! After graduating from UNL, Adam worked for stations in Central City and Columbus before coming to work for KRVN. Adam loves living and working in Nebraska! He also enjoys riding horses and helping out on the family ranch. You're invited to join "Adam In The Afternoon" each weekday from 2-7 on The River for the absolute best in country music, area happenings, and crazy stories.

My thanks to Mike Lashley and the crew at Lashley Land & Recreational Brokers for inviting KRVN to their open house in North Platte.  The new facility is very nice.  Here are a few pictures from the event.

While college students nationwide primarily fill their schedules with classes from organic chemistry to Old English literature, sometimes they need a break. The Huffington Post scoured college course listings and found what they deemed to be the 10 coolest college courses being offered today.

   1. The Joy of Garbage at Santa Clara University
   2. Learning from YouTube at Pitzer College
   3. Underwater Basket Weaving at Reed College
   4. Tree Climbing at Cornell University
   5. Philosophy and "Star Trek" at Georgetown University
   6. Queer Musicology at University of California-Los Angeles
   7. Maple Syrup, The Real Thing at Alfred University
   8. The Science of Harry Potter at Frostburg State University
   9. The Art of Walking at Centre College
  10. iPhone Application Programming at Stanford University

The only college course I ever took, that might be considered a "gimme" was the History of Rock Music.  I actually received one of the poorest grades of my college career in that class because I didn't take it seriously.  Have you ever taken a "gimme" of a college course?

Win Blake Shelton's latest CD 6-pak, "Hillbilly Bone"

Identify the artist below.  The River Lines will open, and I'll give an audio clue during the Drive @ Five today.  Must be 18 to win.

Congratulations, Pam Wright of Cozad!  It's Alan Jackson.

Martie McGuire & Emily Robison are getting ready to release new music, not as the Dixie Chicks, but as a duo; The Court Yard Hounds. The “official” word is that the Dixie Chicks are not breaking up. However, this has the feel of a way to test the country audience's response to the sisters' music without Natalie. Her controversial remarks about the president reduced their radio airplay to almost none in 2003. If the Court Yard Hounds are successful, I think the Dixie Chicks will be “officially” done.

The new, edgier music from the Court Yard Hounds on their website. What do you think? Are you interested in hearing music from Martie and Emily on KRVN?

It's that time of year again.  About this time KRVN listeners start asking me, "so what's KRVN giving away this summer?".  We've been tossing some ideas around the conference table here at the radio station.  I think we may have come up with the ultimate prize this year.  Now keep in mind, we havn't finalized our decision.  However, here's a video of what you might be able to win this summer.  If you don't want it, I'll take it!
