Not having the choice of meat on a school lunch menu might
sound like something that would happen in a third world country, not here in the U.S...

Actually, Baltimore City Public School System just adopted a "Meatless Monday" philosophy. This means there will be 80,000 students a week that will not have the great taste of beef, pork, chicken, or turkey on Mondays. PETA is presenting the school system with a Proggy Award for Most Progressive Public School District of 2009. "Proggy" is for "progress".

According to PETA's press release: "The American Dietetic Association says that a vegetarian diet is appropriate for all stages of life and reduces one's risk of heart disease, obesity, and cancer. Cutting down on meat also reduces greenhouse-gases emissions. In a U.N. report titles "Livestock's Long Shadow", scientists concluded that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, ships, SUVs, and plans in the world combined. And, of course, going vegetarian is the best thing that anyone can do to help stop animal suffering. Vegetarians save more than 100 animals a year from factory-farm filth, mutilation without painkillers, and a terrifying death.

WE DISAGREE!

To help promote animal agriculture and support those who raise animal livestock, we'll be giving away beef and pork certificates during "More Meat Mondays"
on 840 KTIC AM and 107.9 the Bull.

You need to tell your farmer's story - you can no longer rely on someone else to do it for you.

Be listening Monday mornings for your chance to win
and support Animal Agriculture as the backbone of our rural economies.
